Travel Brazil on a Budget: Samba, Sun & Surprises

Brazil is bigger, bolder, and more exciting than I ever imagined. Before visiting, I thought it was all samba, beaches, and football. Then I spent a month zigzagging from the steamy north to the cool southern mountains. Now I know — Brazil is wild, hilarious, and unforgettable. And yes, it’s absolutely possible to travel Brazil on a budget and still experience every bit of its magic.

Amazon Beginnings: “Is That a Dolphin or a Log?”

My journey started in Manaus, gateway to the Amazon. I was gliding down the Rio Negro when the boat driver shouted, “Boto! Boto!” pink river dolphins. I leaned over to see and nearly became piranha lunch. Lesson learned: never underestimate Amazon curiosity.

But wow, the magic here! I kayaked through flooded forests, heard howler monkeys scream like rock stars, and ate grilled tambaqui by candlelight. The Amazon is raw, humid, and hauntingly beautiful.

Planning your trip? Find cheap flights to Manaus with Skyscanner or Kiwi.com, Stay in cozy jungle lodges or budget hostels via Agoda or Hostelworld.
